Last year, in response to feedback from the public about policing
priorities, Surrey Police made significant changes to the way it operates.
This action resulted in twice as many dedicated Neighbourhood
Specialist Officers (NSOs) working in local communities, making
it easier for the public to contact the Force, and more time spent
tackling crime and disorder in Surrey. The public response to NSOs
remains highly favourable and the increased levels of communication
between public and police have produced tangible benefits to local
communities throughout Surrey - a factor, it is anticipated, that
will continue to improve with the recent deployment of 52 Police
Community Support Officers (PCSOs) to specifically assist with
local policing.
By targeting activity at persistent offenders and increasing the
visible presence of officers, Surrey Police aims to remain one of
the safest English counties and help ensure peace of mind for the
people of Surrey.
